The EduTECH International Congress and National FutureSchools Expo events bring educators to the forefront of leading, teaching and learning with emerging technologies. These events help teachers, instructors and lecturers at schools, colleges, universities, RTOs and TAFEs get their hands on disruptive technologies to elevate learning.
The EduTECH team was super excited about the move from Brisbane to Sydney this year. After significant planning, and a great many years in the game, once again the event was record breaking: www.edutech.net.au
EduTECH is attended by the entire education decision-making chain including leaders, business managers, educators and ICT professionals. The event enjoyed 8760+ attendees across the three days, and we showcased 250+ exhibitors and 230+ world-class speakers. This year, following our sustainable development theme, we connected with NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson with a welcome video from on board the International Space Station.
As a Giant Festival of Education, EduTECH once again secured and surpassed its place as a World Leading Premier Education Expo. Delegates networked with their peers and heard from international experts, while masterclass, congress and breakout seminar presenters shared world leading strategies and resources. EduTECH provides an opportunity to celebrate education with world leaders, including inspirational people like this year’s ambassador Astronaut Greg Chamitoff.
Program highlights included Professor Carol Dweck, world renowned author of Mindset; Abdul Chohan, Essa Academy (UK), who spoke to us about leveraging technologies for system-wide growth; Angela Maiers on student literacy; Mark Scott on leadership; Greg Whitby on innovation; Louise Stoll on collaborative professional learning; Peter Adams, who spoke about his experiences leading the International Pisa Assessment Program, and many others.
National FutureSchools Expo 2018

The National FutureSchools Expo is a must-attend premier event for you and your colleagues, in which five parallel conferences are dedicated to every aspect of the future school. This year, FutureSchools showcased 80+ exhibitors, and 120+ leading speakers. Based on past growth, in 2018 the Expo will be attended by 4,000 attendees from all over the country and from overseas.
New technologies continue to shift and change the nature of learning in our schools and learning institutions. Next year’s themes include culture, leadership, curriculum, assessment, enterprise skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, literacy, numeracy, DigiTECH and STEM.

Popular pre-event masterclasses this year included Teaching Kids to Code, Setting up a Makerspace, Cybersecurity, Digitally Young and Well, and Getting the Most from your BYOD Program. Educators also learnt how to MindmapTM, construct robots, and create code on the iPad using Swift and Makeblock.
The FREE Expo offered an interactive NSW Department of Education Future Learners Maker Space, a parents seminar, robotics demonstrations, a cooking show, TeachMeets, and an outstanding main stage speaking program.
The audience was thrilled by contributions from the student videography team at Northern Beaches Christian School, under the direction of Mr Chris Woldhuis and by a K-12 breakout session by the STEM students of Queenwood, directed by educators Andrew Merrick and Andy Draper.
Following a day of world-class content and professional learning, dinner guests were entertained by the Epping Boys High School Jazz Band at the Gala Dinner pre-dinner drinks, under the direction of musical and performance directors Michael Tabrett and Antony Much. This outstanding comprehensive public school jazz ensemble received rave reviews.
Finally, we were all chuffed when teacher Rebecca Backman from St Mary’s Primary School, Williamstown (VIC) won the 2017 EduTECH treasure hunt and a car for the grand prize!
EduTECH continues to grow, with the addition of two brand new co-located events in 2018: EduBuild and Learning@Work. We bring learning environments to life such that people, technology, place and space work together in concert to accelerate and deepen learning. Persistent themes include collaborative professional learning, STEM, DigiTECH, and inclusive teaching practices for the full range of learners.
EduTECH offers nine parallel congresses covering every aspect of education, incorporating schools, VET/RTOs and TAFEs and tertiary education providers and universities together with workplace, community and library learning providers. It is the largest education event of its kind in the Asia Pacific, and in the Southern Hemisphere.
Next year EduTECH will continue delivering on the delegate feedback we obtain from year to year. Strategic and targeted technology investment will be strongly supported as we continue to learn how to meet and exceed expectations about quality learning. Make a place for you and your colleagues in your calendar right now for 6–8 June 2018 and join us for outstanding professional learning and networking at the annual EduTECH International Congress, hosted at the International Convention Centre, Darling Harbour, Sydney.
